Obituary for Kathleen Jo Gylling

Heaven gained another angel when the veil parted for Kathleen "Kathy" Jo Gylling on November 7th, 2019. She was born to Eva Aleen Norton and Carlos Fredrico Sanchez on January 21, 1960. She was the youngest of 8 children. Kathleen then moved to La Jara, Colorado with her family when she was 14 years old. On August 5,1977 she married her high school sweetheart, the boy next door, David Gylling. Together they welcomed 8 children into the world and enjoyed 42 years of marriage. On November 17, 1983 David, Kathy and their children were sealed at the Mesa Arizona Temple for all time and eternity.

Kathy was best known for her always present smile and endless amounts of kindness. Kathy never knew a stranger, nor did she treat anyone ill. She was the epitome of compassion, goodness and happiness. David and Kathy served a 2 year stake service mission to the Del Norte Branch, and she served in various callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as girls camp director and a leader in cub scouts, but her favorite was being in the primary. She loved being with the children. She also enjoyed attending the temple. She was an active member of the community. When her children were in elementary school she brought in piglets for show and tell and helped with picture day and field trips. She was a coach for many little league baseball teams. Her children remember her always being there. She never missed a game, a program, or concert. She was their biggest fan.

Kathy was a hard worker. She was a homemaker and manager of Gylling Ag. During the potato harvest, she would drive a 1984 International potato truck and work side by side with her husband and family. She was the best truck driver and potato sorter. Her interests included sewing, crocheting, family history, playing Yahtzee, puzzles, baseball, crafts with her grandchildren and watching movies. If anyone knows the family, all conversations most likely include quoting favorite movie lines. She was the most creative, funny, and artistic person.

After the kids were raised, David and Kathy really got the opportunity to travel. They loved having their adventures in Mexico, Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, Breckenridge and simple Sunday drives to the mountains and to the farm.

She is preceded in death by her son Benjamin, her mother, father, and sister Carla Doggett.

Kathleen is survived by her siblings Helen Diane Lottman, Lloyd Sanchez, Linda Gorman, Joyce Dance, Donna Walters and Susan Peterson. Her husband David Gylling and children Justin Gylling (Angel) and their children Mayson, Brydon, Tytan, and Aspen; Brian Gylling (Christina) and their children Emily, Trevon, Shelby, Emmitt; Aimee Smith (Mark) and their children Shallyn, Ashlyn, Avryn, Brinlyn, Jezlyn; Sheena Medina (Alex) and children Tenley, Kaylen; Diana Shawcroft (Tyler) and their children Dawson, Gracie, Jade, Reese; Crystal Kechter (Anthony) and Raina Walters (Torben)and their children Kayzlie, Tenneson, Drexton and Rigden.

She loved her grandchildren. Family was her whole world. She's reunited with Benjamin now.
May there be imaginary bear hunts, homemade gifts, and laughter with hugs and kisses until we meet again.
